Whale of a time!

The humpback whale migration passing Sydney takes place between April and December, with two distinct seasons depending on the direction of travel of the majority of whales.

This week’s reader photo was taken off the coast of Sydney by Trevor Scouten.

“The light was particularly magical on this day. Around 3pm it was slightly overcast and the sun was low in the sky, creating a beautifully distributed soft light. Breathtaking exposures displayed all the detail of the highlights and shadows. This was definitely one of my best days out on the Tasman Sea in the two years I have been doing it, and this image is part of my favourite series of humpback photos I have captured to date,” said Trevor.
