Down the coast from the Whitsundays are the South
Cumberland Islands nine low peaks off the coast of Mackay in the Coral Sea. In biogeographic terms, St Bees and Keswick have been fantastic field laboratories for exploring how resident species interact with each other and with flora and fauna on neighbouring islands, like the introduced population of koalas.
