Take a tour of the brilliant landscape of the Mackenzie region, New Zealand.

THE SOUTHERN ALPS OF New Zealand are a series of mountains that stretches along the country’s South Island, exemplifying the stunning scenery for which the region is famous.

Under five hours from Christchurch, Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park is a 70,700ha protected alpine region. Mt Cook, for which the park is named, stands at 3754m and its summit is the nation’s highest point.

On assignment for Australian Geographic, Mike Langford captured this footage of the partially-frozen landscape, while touring by boat and helicopter.
