Diving with a turtle on Lady Eliot Island.
Caroline witnesses the moment hundreds of baby turtles hatchlings make a frantic dash from the sand to the ocean
On Lady Eliot Island hatchlings make their way from the nest towards the sea between January and May each year. Caroline handles the tiny, creatures that she remarks have surprising strength in their flippers.
Turtles are endangered and therefore their nesting areas have restricted public access. It is only possible to watch this everyday miracle with a guide or ranger. Caroline follows the baby turtles down to the water and watches them strike out into their new lives.
