Sandy Robson
Sea Kayaker, Educator, Adventurer, Australian Geographic Adventurer of the Year Award Winner 2017
Sandy Robson is one of Australia’s most notable sea kayakers, and it’s clear why. In 2011, she set off on what would be a five and a half year expedition, from Germany to Australia, paddling almost 23,000km through 20 different countries, in an endeavour to retrace the Oscar Speck journey. Her list of record breaking titles is long, and her achievements are many. Among them, are ‘first person to circumnavigate Sri Lanka by kayak’, ‘first woman to kayak the coast of India’, and ‘second ever person, first woman, to cross Palk Strait (between Sri Lanka and India) by kayak’. In 2017, she was the Australian Geographic Adventurer of the year, and became one of the top three female paddlers by World Paddle Awards. She’s currently in the process of writing a book about her epic 5 year sea kayak journey – the one that Oscar Speck could never write himself.
