This week’s reader photo of a Port Jackson shark was captured by Ian Donato in Cabbage Tree Bay, Manly, New South Wales.

“During the day the Port Jackson sharks like to lounge around mostly. Often enough, this doesn’t allow a whole lot in the way of interesting shots,” says Ian.

“But, as luck would have it on this day, this handsome shark picked a spot with an agreeable background. Furthermore, it was unfussed when I made a number of passes in the process of bagging this shot. Port Jackson sharks are truly among my favourite subjects and are proof positive, given their numbers in the bay during their breeding season, when touting the value of marine parks.”
