Dive into some of the world’s best ocean films at Ocean Film Festival 2023
The Ocean Film Festival’s vision is to inspire people to explore, respect, enjoy and protect our oceans. Coming to Australia in February 2023, the tour includes a unique selection of films of varying lengths and styles covering topics such as ocean adventure and exploration, the oceanic environment, marine creatures, ocean related sports, coastal cultures and ocean lovers.
The 2.5 hour program, showcasing films from independent filmmakers worldwide, has been hosted in 14 countries annually over a 10-year period, touching countless lives in and out of the ocean. A special 10th year anniversary program will kick off in Australia before touring worldwide.
“Ten years ago we started the Ocean Film Festival World Tour with big dreams, not only to inspire the world to explore and enjoy our oceans but further to protect and respect them,” says festival founder, Jemima Robinson. “With a personal passion for film and all things ocean, I wanted the Ocean Film Festival World Tour to become an avenue for promoting ocean conservation and bringing people together to celebrate mother nature. We have done this through sharing unique stories from independent filmmakers from around the globe, reaching many exciting milestones, and now set our sights towards the next 10 years of making an even greater impact.”
The 2023 festival will include filmmaker Q&A’s in multiple locations around the country, live music at events, art and photography exhibitions in the foyers and more.
“Our aim over the next 10 years is to continue to support independent filmmakers getting their work seen, highlight important ocean environmental causes and continue to foster our audiences’ love of the ocean,” says Jemima. “We also aim to share these stories with more people around the world opening up screenings in new locations. For example 2023 will see the Ocean Film Festival World Tour screen in Denmark for the first time.”
