AG READER SCOTT HARTE was involved in a gecko project in October which examined the biomechanics of gecko toe pads.

To be sure that this specimen was a northern spiny-tailed gecko (Strophurus ciliaris), Scott needed to see its orange tongue. “Adding a few drops of water on its face to get it to lick worked out perfectly,” he says.
