White-bellied sea-eagle preys on feral pig

Photographer Clarke Espie photographed these incredible images of a white-bellied sea-eagle preying on a small feral pig in the Cromarty wetlands, south of Townsville, a place of diverse wildlife.

“The sea-eagle regardless of its powerful wings struggled to gain altitude before landing its prey upon a small island within the wetlands, where together the eagles shared the prey,” Clarke says.

Queensland’s feral pigs are known to spread weeds, degrade soil and water, and prey on native species as well as damaging crops and stock.
