The Rolling Grounds above Guthega in the middle of Kosciuszko National Park, NSW, is a place of snowgrass, bogs and tors that loom from the mist.

Hainsworth Hut on Long Plain, also in Kosciuszko National Park, NSW. The huts of the high country vary from homes of several rooms built during the 1800s to one-roomed structures made of corrugated iron and wood established in the 1930s and 40s.

The slopes of Tabletop Mountain are home to twisted gums and bush regeneration.

Sub-alpine country north-east of Mt Jagungal forms a part of the small Australian Alps bioregion.

Mackeys Hut is roughly 30km north of Perisher Village in Kosciuszko National Park, NSW. It’s where Keith stopped here for lunch and a chat with a ranger after his 18km walk in the morning fog.
